Touhid mourns death of British jouro Mark Tully

DHAKA, Jan 26, 2026 (BSS) - Foreign Adviser Md. Touhid Hossain today expressed deep sorrow over the death of veteran British journalist Sir William Mark Tully, who passed away on Sunday.

In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the adviser said Mark Tully would be remembered by the people of Bangladesh for his extensive and courageous coverage of the country's Liberation War in 1971, which helped generate global awareness, support and sympathy for Bangladesh's struggle for independence.

Recalling Tully's role during the war in 1971, Touhid noted that his reports on BBC radio served as a vital source of information and inspiration for Bangladeshis.

On behalf of Bangladesh, the foreign adviser conveyed heartfelt condolences and extended his sympathies to Tully's bereaved family, the statement said.
