DMP files 989 cases for violating traffic rules

DHAKA, Feb 1, 2026 (BSS) - The Traffic Division of the Dhaka Metropolitan 
Police (DMP) has filed 989 cases against motor vehicles for violating 
traffic rules in a single day across the capital.

A media release of the DMP today said that they filed those cases and 
realized the money on Saturday (January 31) through their regular drives 
against the traffic rule breakers.

A total of 314 motor vehicles were dumped and 172 were wrecked due to 
poor driving practices, said Talebur Rahman, deputy commissioner (Media and 
Public Relations Division) of the DMP.

Of the cases, DMP's Ramna traffic division filed 42 while Lalbagh division 
registered 56, Motijheel division filed 156, Wari division filed 79, Tejgaon 
division filed 60, Mirpur division filed 390, Uttara division filed 110 and 
Gulshan traffic division registered 100 cases during the last one day traffic 
management activities.

"The drives will continue to ensure discipline on the city streets," the 
release said, adding that the DMP has been working to bring the traffic 
system under smooth in the capital for giving city dwellers easy movement.
