DHAKA, Feb 17, 2026 (BSS) – The newly elected members of parliament (MPs) of National Citizen Party (NCP) in the 13th national elections took oath of office at Jatiya Sangsad (JS) here today.

Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin administered the oath of office to the lawmakers at the Oath Taking Room of Sangsad Bhaban at about 1:22 pm.

Secretary to the Bangladesh Parliament Secretariat Kaniz Moula conducted the oath-taking ceremony. Later, the lawmakers signed the oath book.

The NCP lawmakers also took oath as the members of Constitutional Reform Council.
Earlier, the newly elected MPs of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami took oath at the same venue.

According to the official results, the BNP bagged 209 seats alone in the Jatiya Sangsad polls held on February 12 last. 

Besides, BNP’s political alliance Gano Odhikar Parishad, Bangladesh Jatiya Party (BJP) and Gano Sanghati Andalon secured one seat each in the polls.

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami secured 68 seats alone emerging as the main opposition party while its alliance partners National Citizen Party (NCP) won six seats, Bangladesh Khilafat Majlis two seats and Khelafat Majlish one seat.

Islami Andolon Bangladesh bagged one seat and independent candidates won seven constituencies in the polls.

On Friday night, the Election Commission published the gazette for 297 out of 299 parliamentary seats in the 13th parliamentary polls.

It, however, postponed announcement of results in two seats - Chattogram-2 and Chattogram-4. Voting in Sherpur-3 constituency was postponed due to the death of a Jamaat-e-Islami candidate.
