DHAKA, Feb 19, 2026 (BSS) - The government has appointed Md Mehedul Islam as Private Secretary-II to Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on contractual basis, public administration ministry officials said today.

They said the ministry issued the order on Wednesday night saying Islam would retain his office during Rahman’s tenure as the premier or as long as was satisfied with his service.

According to the contract Islam would require to resign from any profession, business, or position in government, semi-government, private, or other organizations to join his position.
