DHAKA, Feb 28, 2026 (BSS) – The Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) will launch a 10-day special “crash program” starting tomorrow to control the growing mosquito infestation across its jurisdiction, according to a press release.
DSCC Administrator Md. Abdus Salam announced a “zero tolerance” policy toward mosquito control operations and instructed all concerned officials to strictly implement the program without any negligence.
The announcement came at an emergency meeting held at the Nagar Bhaban auditorium today with officials of the health department’s mosquito control wing.
The 10-day special drive will involve city corporation officials as well as active participation from local residents to ensure its success.
The administrator warned that no laxity in mosquito control activities would be tolerated.
During the meeting, emphasis was placed on ensuring the effectiveness of insecticides used in mosquito control, following proper application methods, and strengthening field-level monitoring.
The health department was also directed to work in close coordination with the waste management department to enhance overall mosquito control efforts.
Abdus Salam stated that any negligence, failure, or corruption in mosquito control activities would face strict action, reiterating the government’s zero-tolerance stance on the issue.
He further said that he would personally conduct regular field inspections to monitor the progress of the operations.
The meeting also discussed enhancing the skills of mosquito control workers through training and testing new, more effective alternatives to existing insecticides.
Additionally, the administrator instructed authorities to take strict legal action, including conducting mobile court drives, against any government or private organizations where mosquito breeding grounds are found and where repeated warnings go unheeded.
