Prof Dr F M Siddiqui appointed BMU VC

DHAKA, March 9, 2026 (BSS) – The Government has appointed Professor Dr. F. M. Siddiqui as Vice-Chancellor (VC) of Bangladesh Medical University (BMU).

 Dr. Siddiqui previously served as a professor in the Department of Medicine at Dhaka Medical College and Hospital.

Signed by Senior Assistant Secretary Sanjib Das of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare issued a notification in this regard today. 

The notification stated that the former professor of the Medicine Department at Dhaka Medical College has been appointed to the top executive post of the university in accordance with Section 12 of the Bangladesh Medical University Act, 1996, which was amended by Ordinance No. 12 of 2025.

According to the terms of the appointment, his tenure as Vice-Chancellor will be for a duration of four years effective from the date of his joining. 

However, the President and Chancellor of the university reserve the authority to cancel the appointment at any time as per necessity.
