SYLHET, Mar 9,2026 (BSS) –  Labour and Employment and Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Ariful Haque Choudhury today said the government is providing maximum support to the expatriates living in the middle east.

“In line with the instruction of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, the government is working for providing maximum support to the expatriates living in the Middle East”, he said.

The minister said this before attending the Namaj-e Janaza of deceased Ahmed Ali who was killed in Dubai during the war between Iran, Israel and the United States, at Barolekha of Moulvi Bazar here.

He said the government has formed a monitoring team in coordinating with three ministries immediately after beginning the middle east war. The Prime Minister is regularly taking updates of the Bangladeshi citizens through the monitoring team.

Ariful Haque said after beginning the war, the expatriates welfare ministry, the foreign ministry, civil aviation ministry and different Bangladeshi missions in the middle east are working jointly.

A total of four Bangladeshis so far has been killed in the war, said the minister, adding that the dead body of one Bangladeshi expatriate has arrived in the country but the government will bring the body of other Bangladeshis with government expenditure after concluding the formalities in abroad.

“We have already communicated with all the deceased families and keeping regular update”, said the minister. Those were injured in the war, the treatment is being provided them through the embassy. Even those are jobless and confined in houses due to war, the government is providing them food and other assistance through the embassies.

The minister also said that the government will give support to the deceased families.

Earlier, the coffin of the deceased Ahmed Ali reached at his village home Barolekha and the minister conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family members during this time.

Senior secretary of the expatriate welfare ministry Dr Neyamat Ullah Bhuiyan, Wage Earners Welfare Board director general Barrister Golam Sarwar Bhuiyan, Moulvibazar deputy commissioner Towhiduzzaman Pavel, among others, were present during this time.
