Swapon assures all-out support for flourishing of women journalists

Dhaka, April 16, 2026 (BSS) – Information and Broadcasting Minister Zahir Uddin Swapon today assured all kinds of support for the development and flourishing of women journalists as a delegation from the Bangladesh Women Journalists Forum (BWJF) called on him at his office.

During the meeting, the minister discussed the protection of professional dignity of women journalists, enhancement of their skills, and improvement of standards.

He emphasized the importance of building networks for women journalists at regional, national, and international levels. 

The minister also spoke about the importance of organizing research, meetings, seminars, and workshops on the involvement of women in media and expressed his willingness to support such initiatives.

BWJF Adviser Momtaz Bilkis Banu led the six-member delegation. Other members included Vice President Ayesha Parveen (Junan Nashit), Treasurer Shahnaz Begum Poly, Organizing Secretary Masuda Sultana, and members Shirin Sultana and Mashreka Mona.

Bangladesh Women Journalists Forum (BWJF) was established in 1989 with the aim of protecting the dignity and professional status of women journalists, as well as enhancing their skills, development, and advancement.
