Heavy rains forecast in 5 divisions

DHAKA, April 29, 2026 (BSS) - Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) today forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall in five divisions over the next 24 hours commencing from 9:00am.

According to a Met office bulletin, moderately heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely to occur at places over Mymensingh, Dhaka, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions.

"Light to moderate rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally wind and lightning flashes is likely at many places over Mymensingh, Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions and at a few places over Rangpur and Rajshahi divisions," the bulletin said.

Day temperature may fall slightly while night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country.

The highest temperature on Tuesday was recorded at 35.4 degrees Celsius in Jashore, while today's minimum temperature was 19 degrees Celsius in Nikli and Narayanganj.

In the last 24 hours, the highest rainfall of 160 millimetres was recorded in Nikli.

In Dhaka, the sun will set at 6:26pm today and rise at 5:25am tomorrow.
