RAJSHAHI, May 3, 2026 (BSS) - An orientation programme for postgraduate students of the Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) Department at Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET) was held on Saturday.

The programme took place at the department's seminar room with Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr S M Abdur Razzak attending as the chief guest.

Addressing the students, he urged postgraduate students to contribute to elevating RUET's position in global rankings, including the QS Rankings, through quality research.

According to the CSE Department, a total of 106 candidates applied for admission to the postgraduate programme. Of them, 21 candidates were selected for admission based on merit following the admission test.

The event was chaired by Professor Dr Md Shahid Uz Zaman, Head of the CSE Department.

Among others, Professor Dr Bashir Ahmed, Dean of the Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering; Professor Dr Rabiul Islam Sarker, Director of the Directorate of Students' Welfare; and Professor Dr Abdul Khaleque, Director of the Research and Extension Directorate, also spoke.

Assistant Professor Azmain Yaqin Srijon of the CSE Department conducted the programme.
