
MYMENSINGH, June 17, 2026 (BSS) - Two construction workers were killed after falling from an under-construction multi-storey building in Mymensingh city this afternoon.
The accident occurred around 5 pm in the College Road area of the city.
One of the deceased was identified as Masud Rana, 30, a resident of Chapainawabganj district. Police are trying to ascertain the identity of the other victim.
Police and local sources said the workers had been living in Mymensingh in connection with construction work.
According to witnesses, several workers were engaged in installing a lift at an under-construction high-rise building on College Road when the two workers fell from the eighth floor.
They sustained critical injuries in the fall. Locals rescued them and rushed them to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital, where on-duty physicians declared them dead.
Owner of the under-construction building Dr. Belal said all necessary materials for the construction work had been supplied to the contractor, who had brought the workers to the site. "I had no negligence in this matter," he said.
Officer-in-Charge of Kotwali Model Police Station Mohammad Shibirul Islam said police visited the scene after receiving information about the incident.
"The bodies have been kept at the hospital morgue and legal procedures in connection with the incident are underway," he added.
