CHAPAINAWABGANJ, May 10, 2026 (BSS)- The number of measles patients in the district has started to decline, with many children admitted to the measles isolation corner of the district hospital recovering and returning home.

Authorities of the 250-bed Chapainawabganj Hospital confirmed the information today.

According to hospital data, 16 children were discharged from the hospital in the last 24 hours, while 12 new patients were admitted during the same period.

Earlier, the number of admitted patients was 49 and at present, 45 measles-infected children are undergoing treatment at the hospital’s measles isolation corner.

Since January this year, a total of 1,266 measles patients have received treatment at the 250-bed Chapainawabganj District Hospital.

Civil Surgeon of the 250-bed Chapainawabganj District Hospital Dr. A.K.M. Shahab Uddin told BSS that the situation has been improving over the past few days.

He said that although the situation is improving, special vaccination programmes are ongoing in different areas as a precautionary measure.

Special MR (measles-rubella) vaccination drives have been intensified in various areas, including Sadar, Shibganj and Bholahat upazilas, to control the outbreak.

He also said health workers are visiting homes to ensure measles vaccination and stressing the importance of administering Vitamin A capsules to children.

He urged people to continue regular vaccination activities and seek immediate medical advice if measles symptoms appear.
