DHAKA, May 21, 2026 (BSS) -Education and Primary and Mass Education Minister Dr A N M Ehsanul Hoque Milon today said former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia played a pioneering role in advancing girls' education by expanding educational opportunities for female students across the country.

He made the remarks while participating in a high-level ministerial dialogue organized by the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO) in London.

Speaking at the event, the minister said the government is committed to ensuring quality education for all through inclusive, learner-centred and joyful teaching methods so that every child can learn and thrive.

On the sidelines of the programme, Milon held a meeting with former Governor of Nigeria's Edo State Godwin Obaseki, who shared experiences of the "One Teacher, One Tablet" initiative implemented in the state.

Later, the minister attended a reception at the House of Lords hosted by the UK's Trade Envoy to Bangladesh Baroness Rosie Winterton.

The reception discussed strengthening Bangladesh-UK cooperation in education, including transnational education (TNE), edtech collaboration, curriculum reform, innovation hubs, third-language training and employability.

The minister stressed the need to align education with industry demands to enhance employment opportunities and economic productivity.
