JAHANGIRNAGAR UNIVERSITY, June 6, 2026 (BSS) - Professor Dr Borhan Uddin of the Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Department of Jahangirnagar University (JU) has been appointed as the Treasurer of Dhaka Central University (DCU).

A notification issued by the Ministry of Education today said the appointment was made with the approval of President and Chancellor of the university Mohammed Shahabuddin under Section 14(1) of the Dhaka Central University Act, 2026.

According to the notification, Prof Borhan Uddin will serve as Treasurer for a period of four years from the date of joining or until the date of his retirement, whichever occurs earlier.

During his tenure, he will receive salary and allowances equivalent to those of his substantive post and enjoy other benefits as prescribed by relevant rules. 

He will also reside on the university campus and perform duties and exercise powers assigned under the university's laws and statutes as well as those delegated by the Vice-Chancellor.

The notification also said the Chancellor may revoke the appointment at any time if deemed necessary.
