Govt working to preserve grassroots-level culture, heritage: Minister

DHAKA, June 26, 2026 (BSS) - Cultural Affairs Minister Nitai Roy Chowdhury today said the government is working tirelessly to preserve the grassroots-level culture and heritage of the country to ensure their balanced development. 

He also called upon the local cultural activists to work together to further advance Jhenaidah's rich cultural heritage.

The minister said this while speaking as the chief guest at an exchange of views organized on the initiative of the Deputy Commissioner at the Jhenaidah District Administration conference room, a press release said here 

Jhenaidah Deputy Commissioner Md. Noman Hossain chaired the event.

Cultural Minister said that cultural practice dispels darkness and superstition from society and shows the path of light. “The current government is providing appropriate patronage to cultural organizations and artists in every region of the country,” he added.

In continuation of this, the Minister distributed financial grant checks from the Ministry of Cultural Affairs to various local cultural institutions and related individuals in Jhenaidah district.

Distinguished cultural personalities from various levels of Jhenaidah district, senior officials of the local administration, and eminent citizens were present at the event.
