Special Committee finalizes report on Bangladesh Medical University (Second Amendment) Bill, 2026

DHAKA, June 30, 2026 (BSS) - The 4th meeting of the Special Committee of the 13th Jatiya Sangsad was held today at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban with Committee Chairman Zainul Abedin, MP, in the chair.

The meeting was attended by committee members Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed, Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Md Asaduzzaman, State Minister for Social Welfare Farzana Sharmin, Md Abdul Bari, Muhammad Nowshad Zamir, Md Mujibur Rahman and G.M. Nazrul Islam.

At the invitation of the committee, Health and Family Welfare Minister Sardar Md. Sakhawat Husain also attended the meeting.

The meeting approved the minutes of its previous meetings at the outset.

The committee discussed the Bangladesh Medical University (Second Amendment) Bill, 2026, finalized its report on the bill and decided to place it before Parliament.
Committee members also conducted a detailed review of measures aimed at bringing healthcare services to people’s doorsteps across the country.

Officials from the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, and senior officials of the Bangladesh Jatiya Sangsad Secretariat were present at the meeting.
