Foreign minister mourns death of Jamiruddin Sircar

DHAKA, July 12, 2026 (BSS) – Foreign Minister Dr. Khalilur Rahman today expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of former Speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad, former minister and Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Standing Committee member Barrister Jamiruddin Sircar.

In a condolence message, the foreign minister described Sircar as an experienced and distinguished parliamentarian, an eminent lawyer and a veteran politician who devoted his life to upholding democracy, human rights and the rule of law.

"He worked with dedication throughout his life to establish democracy, human rights and the rule of law. His death is an irreparable loss to the country's political arena and the nation," Dr. Rahman said.

The foreign minister prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed his deepest sympathies to the bereaved family members.
