RANGPUR, July 15, 2026 (BSS) - Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur (BRUR) today held orientation programmes in a festive atmosphere for first-year undergraduate (honours) students admitted for the 2025-26 academic year.

All 22 departments under the university's six faculties organised separate orientation sessions at their respective departments to welcome the newly admitted students.

Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Md Showkat Ali visited the orientation sessions of various departments and greeted the freshers.

During the visits, he delivered a motivational speech to the students.

"The new students are the lifeblood of this university and the architects of a prosperous Bangladesh in the future," he said, urging them to help take BRUR forward through excellence in academics and research.

The Vice-Chancellor said the university administration remains vigilant to ensure that no new student falls victim to any form of discrimination or ragging.

"The new students should develop the habit of studying regularly, attending classes on time and practising punctuality from the beginning of their student life," he said.

The Vice-Chancellor presented flowers and other gifts to the freshers.

During the orientation sessions, teachers of the respective departments provided detailed guidance on the university, academic curriculum, examination system and various facilities, including the library.

Deans of different faculties, heads of departments, teachers and newly admitted students attended the programmes.
