CHATTOGRAM, July 15, 2026 (BSS) - Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) Mayor Dr. Shahadat Hossain has distributed emergency food supplies to vulnerable families affected by waterlogging due to the recent heavy rainfall, mountain floods and tidal surges.
On Tuesday, the mayor delivered the food items to over 500 individuals in the Shulkabahar Ward No. 8 (Greater Badurtala) of the city.
The aid included essential items such as rice and pulses.
The mayor said that the City Corporation is diligently working to ensure that no resident of the city faces hunger during this crisis. This aid initiative will extend to all affected wards, and the City Corporation is also developing a long-term strategy to address the issue of waterlogging.
He said it is our ethical and humanitarian duty to support those impacted by natural disasters. Humanitarian Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has directed us to earnestly work to alleviate the suffering of those stranded in water, and this assistance will persist in the future.
He added the primary objective of politics is to promote the welfare of the populace. Therefore, irrespective of political affiliations, we must assist those in peril and provide them with the necessary support. I express my gratitude to all leaders, activists, and volunteers who have worked diligently to ensure the success of this humanitarian initiative.
Leaders and activists from various political parties, including BNP, were present at the event.
