DHAKA, July 22, 2026 (BSS) - The government has continued its response measures to address the situation arising from flash floods, landslides and hill collapses in the country's southeastern and northeastern districts.

Awareness campaigns are also being carried out by field-level information offices under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.

The Regional Information Offices and the district and upazila information offices under the Directorate of Mass Communication have continued public awareness activities in the disaster-hit areas.

According to the latest report from the Chattogram Regional Information Office and the district information office, 15 upazilas, along with Chattogram metropolitan area, have been inundated by floods. 

The district information office has continued disseminating emergency flood messages and conducting road campaigns and loudspeaker announcements, urging people to avoid unsafe houses damaged by floods or heavy rainfall, follow health guidelines, prevent snakebites, ensure the safety of children, women, the elderly and persons with disabilities, refrain from making financial transactions while receiving relief, avoid electric poles and live wires to prevent accidents, and prevent dengue by not allowing water to stagnate.

According to the report, light rain began in Khagrachari district from the afternoon of July 21, and no new incidents of landslides or hill collapses have been reported. Floodwaters have receded from most areas, although normalcy has not yet returned. 

The Khagrachari District Information Office has been disseminating awareness messages on landslides, floods and post-flood measures since the onset of heavy rainfall.

The report said the overall flood situation in Cox's Bazar district has improved. However, some families remain marooned in parts of Pekua upazila. The district recorded 2 mm of rainfall during the past 24 hours, and no new incidents of landslides or hill collapses have been reported. 

Since the beginning of heavy rainfall, the district information office has continued awareness campaigns and loudspeaker announcements on landslides, floods, dengue and chikungunya prevention, and post-flood measures.

According to the report, the situation in Rangamati remains normal. Since the onset of heavy rainfall, the Rangamati District Information Office has continued road campaigns to raise public awareness and encourage people living in landslide-prone areas to move to safe shelters.

According to the latest information received, the disaster situation in Bandarban is now normal. 

The district recorded 30 mm of rainfall during the past 24 hours. Water levels in the Sangu and Matamuhuri rivers are flowing below the danger level. Floodwaters have receded, and people are returning to their homes from shelters. Since the onset of heavy rainfall, the district information office has continued awareness campaigns and film screenings on landslides, floods and post-flood measures.

According to the latest report from the Sylhet Regional Information Office and the district information offices of Sunamganj and Habiganj, no rainfall was recorded during the past 24 hours (until 6:00 am today). 

Although rainfall has decreased, water levels in the Surma, Kushiyara, Sarigowain and Piyain rivers are rising slightly due to rainfall in India's Assam and Meghalaya states. The Surma River at the Kanaighat point and the Kushiyara River at the Fenchuganj point are flowing above the danger level. There is no risk of fresh inundation or major or prolonged flooding. However, some low-lying areas adjacent to the rivers are experiencing short-term flooding.

The overall flood situation in Sunamganj district remains stable. The Surma River at the Chhatak point and the Kushiyara River at the Markuli point are flowing above the danger level.

The overall flood situation in Habiganj district also remains stable. Rivers in the district are flowing below the danger level, and there is no risk of fresh inundation or major or prolonged flooding. The district information office has continued its public awareness activities.

According to the report, the overall flood situation in Moulvibazar district remains stable. The Manu River is flowing below the danger level. However, erosion has been reported at a river protection embankment in Kamalganj upazila. The district information office has continued awareness campaigns during and after the flood period.
