DHAKA, Aug 5, 2026, (BSS) - Five more children have died with measles symptoms across the country over the past 24 hours, while measles infection and symptoms have been detected in 1,083 more people during the same period.

According to a press release issued today by the Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), three of the deaths with measles symptoms were reported in Dhaka Division, while two more children died with measles symptoms in Sylhet Division during the past 24 hours.

The DGHS said that from March 15 to Aug 5, a total of 854 people have died from measles and its symptoms across the country. Of them, 758 died with measles symptoms, while 96 died after being infected with measles.

Meanwhile, 124 new measles cases were confirmed nationwide over the past 24 hours. During the same period, another 959 children developed measles symptoms. Since March 15, a total of 132,905 people have shown measles symptoms, while 16,665 cases of measles have been confirmed.

According to the DGHS report, from March 15 to Wednesday, a total of 115,234 people have been admitted to hospitals across the country with measles and its symptoms. Of them, 111,005 have so far recovered and been discharged from hospitals.
