DHAKA, Aug 24, 2026 (BSS) - The online admission application process for HSC for the next academic year will begin on September 2, with classes scheduled to start across the country on September 23.

According to the admission policy issued by the Secondary and Higher Education Division of the Ministry of Education, the entire admission process will be completed before classes begin on September 23. Students will be admitted solely on the basis of their SSC results, without any admission test.

According to the policy, 93 percent of seats in all colleges and equivalent educational institutions across the country will remain open to all. Of the remaining seven percent, five percent will be reserved for children of freedom fighters and martyred freedom fighters, while two percent will be reserved for children of officials and employees of the Ministry of Education and its subordinate departments and agencies.

However, if no eligible candidates are found for the reserved seats, admission to those seats must be completed from the merit list, and the seats cannot be left vacant under any circumstances.

As per the policy, online applications will be accepted from September 2 (Wednesday) until 8pm on September 10 (Thursday). Applications and changes in choice order for students whose results are changed following re-scrutiny will be accepted from September 12 to September 13 (until 8pm).

The results of selected students will be published at 8pm on September 17 (Thursday). Students will complete their initial confirmation from September 17 to September 19 (until 8pm on Saturday). Final admission at colleges will be completed from September 20 (Sunday) to September 22 (Tuesday). After completion of all admission-related procedures, classes will begin across the country on September 23.

Regarding eligibility and choice of groups, the policy said students who have passed from the science group can apply for any of the science, humanities and business studies groups. However, students from other groups will not be allowed to switch to the science group.

The online application fee has been fixed at Tk 220, while the initial confirmation fee set by the Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee is Tk 340.

For students with special needs (persons with disabilities), institutions have been instructed to waive admission fees as far as possible. If additional fees are collected, strict legal action will be taken, including cancellation of the institution's permission to conduct classes and its MPO status.
