Sports to be included in textbooks from class 4: Aminul Haque

MUNSHIGANJ, Aug 25, 2026 (BSS) - State Minister for Youth and Sports Md. 
Aminul Haque today said the government is taking an initiative to recognise 
sports as a profession and include sports-related subjects in school 
textbooks from class four.

He said work on books covering eight events under the 'Notun Kuri Sports' 
programme has already been completed, and there are plans to include the 
books in schools from next year.

The State Minister made the remarks while speaking as the chief guest in the 
final and prize-giving ceremony of the "Deputy Commissioner Gold Cup Football 
tournament" held at Shaheed Birshreshtha Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman 
Stadium in Munshiganj this afternoon.

Aminul Haque said the present government is giving the highest priority to 
sports and working to establish sports as a profession.
 
He said the first phase of the 'Notun Kuri Sports' programme has already been 
successfully completed with the aim of identifying new talent at the 
grassroots level.

Speaking about plans to improve sports infrastructure across the country, the 
State Minister said stadiums in every district would be modernised within the 
next five years. At the same time, initiatives would be taken to renovate 
district swimming pools soon.

He also mentioned plans to construct a gallery at Munshiganj District 
Stadium, renovate its press box and dressing rooms, and develop indoor 
facilities and a gymnasium.

The state Minister also urged everyone to work together for the overall 
development of the country.

On the occasion, lawmaker of Munshiganj-3 Md Kamruzzaman and Munshiganj 
District Council Administrator AKM Eradat were present as special guests with 
Munshiganj Deputy Commissioner Syeda Nurmahal Ashrafi in the chair.
