KHULNA, July 28, 2026 (BSS) - A student of Khulna University (KU) has secured first place in the National Essay Competition 2026 organised by the Ministry of Labour and Employment, according to a KU press release issued today.

Semanta Chowdhury, a student of the Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) Discipline, won the competition with his essay titled "The Fourth Industrial Revolution (AI and IT) and May Day: Worker Protection and Challenges in a Changing World."

The winning essay has also been published in an official publication of the Ministry of Labour and Employment.

At an award ceremony held recently at the Labour Building in Bijoynagar, Dhaka, Labour and Employment and Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment Adviser Ariful Haque Chowdhury handed Semanta a crest, certificate and prize.

Senior government officials, academics and invited guests attended the ceremony.

Congratulating Semanta on his achievement, KU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Rezaul Karim said the accomplishment would inspire other students to pursue creative research and writing and participate in national-level competitions.

He wished Semanta continued success in his academic, research and creative pursuits.
