Mild heat wave sweeps parts of country: BMD

DHAKA, June 01, 2026 (BSS) - Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) today forecasted mild heat wave in different parts of the country in next 24 hours commencing from 9 am.

According to a Met office bulletin issued this morning, mild heat wave is sweeping over Rajshahi, Rangpur and Khulna divisions and the districts of Dhaka, Tangail, Narsingdi, Mymensingh, Chandpur, Laxmipur, Brahmanbaria and Patuakhali and it may continue.

It also said light to moderate rain/thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty/squally wind and lightning flashes is likely to occur at a few places over Chattogram and Sylhet divisions and at one or two places over Rangpur, Dhaka, Mymensingh, Khulna and Barishal divisions with moderately heavy falls at places over Chattogram and Sylhet divisions. 

Weather may remain mainly dry with temporary partly cloudy sky elsewhere over the country.

Day and Night temperatures may remain nearly unchanged over the country.

The heights temperature on Sunday was recorded at 37.5 degrees Celsius in Sayedpur while today's lowest temperature was 21.2 degrees Celcius in Narsingdi.

The sun will set at 6:42 pm today and rises at 5:11 am tomorrow in Dhaka.
