26 Awami League men arrested in capital

DHAKA, June 24, 2026 (BSS) - Police has arrested 26 leaders and activists of banned Awami League (AL) and its associate bodies from different areas of the capital.

According to police, the arrests were made during the last 24 hours through separate operations in the city, according to a press release of the media and public relations division of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) here today.

It said that such operations will continue in future to maintain law and order in the city.

The release said Ramna Model Police Station arrested two, Shahbagh one, Dhanmondi one, Hazaribagh one, Bangshal one, Sutrapur one, Sabujbagh one, Kadamtali one, Tejgaon two, Shilpanchal two, Mirpur three, Pallabi one, Kafrul one, Darussalam three, Bhatara two, Uttara West one, Airport one and Turag one. 

It said the DMP’s 18 police stations conducted drive in the city to arrest members of the banned Awami League and its affiliated organizations.
