KHULNA, June 24, 2026 (BSS) – The Department of Environment (DoE) in Khulna seized 2,542 kilograms of banned polythene during a drive conducted at two warehouses in the city’s Baro Bazar area today.

Executive Magistrate of the DoE’s Khulna District Office Mumtaz Begum, who led the drive, said the operation was carried out at two warehouses owned by Uttam Enterprise based on confidential information.

During the raid, no representative of the warehouse owner was found on the premises.

As a result, the locks of the two warehouses were broken in the presence of nearby business owners, and 2,542 kilograms of banned polythene were recovered and seized, she added.

The magistrate said legal action would be taken against Uttam Enterprise for violating Section 6A of the Bangladesh Environment Conservation Act, 1995 (amended in 2010).

Members of the Khulna Metropolitan Police, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-6, and Ansar and Village Defence Party (VDP) assisted in maintaining law and order during the operation.
