KHULNA, June 24, 2026 (BSS) -KCC administrator Nazrul Islam Manju today
described the Vitamin A Plus Campaign as an important national programme and
stressed the need for extensive publicity to raise awareness among people
from all walks of life.

He made the remarks as the chief guest in a notification and planning meeting
held at the City Health Building on Sher-e-Bangla Road in the city to ensure
the successful implementation of the National Vitamin A Plus Campaign
scheduled for June 28 across the country.

Referring to the successes achieved in preventing measles-rubella and dengue-
chikungunya infections, he said similar efforts should be made to ensure the
success of the Vitamin A Plus Campaign.

Noting that measles still causes child deaths in some cases, he said Vitamin
A Plus capsules would help reduce the rate of disease transmission and
improve children's health.

Manju instructed ward-level officials to conduct extensive awareness
campaigns through educational and religious institutions and urged all
concerned to ensure that no child is left out of the programme.

The meeting was informed that teachers would be encouraged to promote the
campaign among students in classrooms, while imams would disseminate
information among worshippers during Friday prayers. Officials were also
directed to regularly monitor campaign centres throughout the programme
period.

KCC Chief Executive Officer Rajib Ahmed presided over the meeting, which was
informed that the nationwide Vitamin A Plus Campaign will be conducted
simultaneously across the country on June 28.

Divisional Director of Health Dr. Sheikh Mohammad Mosharraf Hossain and
UNICEF Khulna Chief Mohammad Kawser Ahmed attended as special guests.

Earlier in the day, the KCC administrator distributed government maternity
allowance forms among 57 pregnant women at the Ward No. 31 office.

The distribution programme was presided over by Ward No. 31 Empowered Officer
Sheikh Shafiqul Hasan Didar.

Speaking on the occasion, Manju said the allowance is being provided by the
Department of Women Affairs to ensure healthcare, nutrition and safe
motherhood for pregnant women.
