
CHATTOGRAM, June 24, 2026 (BSS) - Department of Agricultural Marketing in Chattogram has convened a regional marketing workshop aimed at broadening the market for agricultural products, enhancing exports, ensuring the production of safe food, and guaranteeing fair prices for farmers.
MM Arif Pasha, the Director General and Additional Secretary of the Department of Agricultural Marketing attended the workshopas chief guest, which took place today in the meeting room of the Chattogram Circuit House.
During the workshop speakers focused on various facets of marketing, preservation, value addition, and the enhancement of export capacity for agricultural products. It was highlighted that numerous initiatives are being undertaken under the 'Partner' project of the Ministry of Agriculture to promote agriculture, boost production, ensure the safety of food, increase the export of agricultural products, and secure better value for farmers.
In line with this initiative, modern storage facilities are being established for the preservation of agricultural products, training programs are being conducted for farmers and entrepreneurs, and various infrastructures are being developed.
This project, which spans five years and has a budget exceeding TK 7000 core (Seven thousand crore), is being executed through seven divisions of the Agriculture Department and is co-financed by the government, the World Bank, and IFAD.
Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Zahidul Islam Miah chaired the event while Mohammad Ali Jinnah, Additional Director of the Department of Agricultural Extension for the Chattogram Region, Dr. Muhammad Abdullah Al Faruk, Director of the Department of Agricultural Marketing, and Mohammad Siraj Uddin Hossain, Deputy Director of the Department of Agricultural Marketing for Chattogram Division took part in the discussion.
After the workshop, the guests toured an exhibition showcasing various agricultural products and processed food items created by local entrepreneurs.
