KISHOREGANJ, June 24, 2026 (BSS) - A total of 526,155 children in the district will be administered Vitamin A capsules during the upcoming National Vitamin A Plus Campaign 2026, officials announced at a planning and briefing meeting held on Wednesday.

The meeting, organized at the Deputy Commissioner’s conference room at 3pm by the District Civil Surgeon’s Office, reviewed preparations for the nationwide health initiative scheduled for June 28 (Sunday). The campaign will be conducted simultaneously across 2,934 centers throughout the district.

Officials confirmed that children will receive age-appropriate Vitamin A doses: infants aged 6 to 11 months will be given one blue capsule, while children aged 12 to 59 months will receive one high-potency red capsule.

Speaking at the event, health officials emphasized the importance of nutrition in early childhood development. They said that after six months of age, children should continue breastfeeding alongside adequate home-prepared complementary foods. They said regular Vitamin A supplementation, helps strengthen immunity and significantly reduces the risk of child mortality.

Deputy Commissioner Sohana Nasrin was present at the meeting as the chief guest while Acting Civil Surgeon Dr. Md. Nazmul Karim presided over it.

Other attendees included Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Md. Istiak Imon, representatives from various government departments, health officials, and members of the media.

Authorities urged strong public awareness efforts to ensure that no eligible child is left out of the campaign.
