Armed group member killed, arms, ammunition recovered in Khagrachhari

DHAKA, June 24, 2026 (BSS) - The Bangladesh Army has conducted two separate operations in Panchhari and Ramgarh upazilas of Khagrachhari district, killing a member of an armed group and recovering a large cache of arms and ammunition.

The army carried out the operations against armed terrorists in the Barkalk area of Panchhari upazila yesterday and in the Hajachhara area of Ramgarh upazila today, said a press release issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) this evening.

During the drives, members of the armed group opened fire on the army, triggering exchanges of gunfire between the two sides, the ISPR said.

At one stage, two members of the armed group surrendered in the Barkalk area of Panchhari upazila. Two AK-47 rifles, two magazines and 132 rounds of ammunition were recovered from them.

In a separate operation in the Hajachhara area of Ramgarh upazila, one member of the armed group was killed during an exchange of fire.

An AK-47 rifle, a magazine, a pipe gun, 27 rounds of ammunition and other items were recovered from the spot.
