Ex-minister Latif Biswas held in Sirajganj

SIRAJGANJ, Jan 5, 2025 (BSS) - The joint force today arrested former
fisheries and livestock minister Abdul Latif Biswas from his village home at
Belkuchi Pourasabha of the district.

A team of the joint force conducted a raid in Latif Biswas's Kamarpara
residence around 2 pm and nabbed him, said Md. Abdul Barik, inspector of
Belkuchi Police Station.

Latif Biswas, former president of the district Awami League, was an accused
in a case with Enayetpur Thana and another case was in progress with Belkuchi
Thana, Superintendant of Police (SP), Sirajganj Md Faruk Hossain told BSS.
 
Latif Biswas elected as a lawmaker for Sirajganj-5 constituency with AL party
ticket in 1996 and 2008. He also held the position of fisheries and livestock
minister after being elected in 2008.

Later, he was elected as Chairman of Sirajganj Zila Parishad.

Latif was defeated from the same constituency in the 2024 general elections
contesting as an independent candidate.

Details will be announced later, Abdul Barik added.
