DHAKA, April 6, 2025 (BSS) - The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has started investigation against former Awami League MP and cricketer Shakib Al Hasan on corruption charges.

ACC Chairman Dr Mohammad Abdul Momen disclosed this in a briefing at its headquarters in capital’s Segunbagicha this afternoon.

Replying to a query, the ACC chairman said noted cricketer Shakib Al Hasan has also worked in an ACC advertisement but there are also corruption charges against him.

“Investigation into the corruption against former Awami League MP Shakib Al Hasan is going on” the ACC chief told newsmen.

He said, “It is at the inquiry stage and it would be clear after the investigation into the matter.”

Earlier, the ACC, country’s state-run anti-graft watchdog, had signed a contract with Shakib Al Hasan as a brand ambassador in 2018. Besides, the organization also worked with him during the inauguration of Hotline-106.

Subsequently in 2022, the ACC announced that Shakib would be removed from the brand ambassadorship as allegations of various irregularities and corrupt practices were raised.
ACC’s other commissioners, among others, were also present at the press briefing.
