Two held for fraudulence in guise of govt officials

DHAKA, April 7, 2025 (BSS) - The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has 
arrested two members of a fraudulent gang from the capital's Lalbagh area for 
their alleged involvement in cheating people impersonating them as government 
high officials. 

The arrested were identified Sukanta Biswas, 24, son of Sushanta Biswas and 
Manar Baidya, 23, son of Krishna Baidya, both of them hailed from Chaurashi 
village in Bajitpur under Rajoir Police Station of Madaripur district. 

Six mobile phones and 14 SIM cards used in the fraudulence were seized from 
their possession, said a CID press release here today.

A regular case was registered with Paltan Police Station under sections 
23(2)/24(2)/30(2)/35(2) of the Cyber Security Act 2023 and Sections 406/420 
of the Penal Code on April 4 last.

The case is being investigated by the CID.
