DHAKA, April 07, 2025 (BSS)- Pharmaceutical company Incepta has announced to build a fund worth of US$1 million to support startup businesses.

Incepta Group owner Nabila Nowrin made the announcement at a seminar here today.

The seminar on 'Fundraising in a New Era: Adapting to Market Shifts' was held on the sidelines of the Bangladesh Investment Summit 2025 at the Hotel InterContinental.

Chief Adviser’s special assistant for ICT Division Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb told this at a press briefing after the "Startup Connect" session of the Investment Summit.

Chowdhury Ashik Mahmud Bin Harun, executive chairman of Bida and Shafiqul Alam, Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary, also spoke on the occasion.

Faiz Ahmed also said this fund of Incepta Group will be provided to startups as equity, grant and loan or in any format.

“We welcome this initiative. Because about 76 percent of the funds that have come for startups before are foreign funds. Therefore, we applaud this initiative of Bangladeshi companies to fund startups in Bangladesh,” he added.

Faiz Ahmad, however, stated that the government will ensure uninterrupted internet supply for the progress of startup businesses.

"Measures are also being taken so that none can shut down the internet in future," he said, adding that the Bangladesh Telecommunication Act will be amended.

He also said the internet will be recognised as a fundamental right, along with various other initiatives.

Speakers at the press conference mentioned that the Bangladesh Bank will soon open two funds worth Taka 800 crore and Taka 400 crore for entrepreneurs.

The government of Bangladesh and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) are also  establishing a fund jointly.

Ashik mentioned that on the first day of the Investment Summit, 1,500 entrepreneurs from both home and abroad participated.

He also stated that efforts will be made to create a startup-friendly environment by solving the problems presented by the entrepreneurs.
