FARIDPUR, April 8, 2025 (BSS) - Seven people, including women and children, were killed and 30 others injured when a bus overturned on the Faridpur-Barisal highway in Joair area of Sadar upazila this morning.
The deceased were -Joair Saddar, Iman Saddar and Deepa of Nagarkanda upazila in Faridpur district, Bharati Sarker and Fazirun Nesa of Chandpur in Sadar upazila, Alam of Charbhadrasan upazila and Azibar, resident of Hatibandha upazila in Lalmonirhat district.
The accident occurred in front of the Bakhunda Sharif Jute Mill in Joair area around 11 am when the bus turned turtle on the road and fell into a roadside ditch as its driver was overtaking another vehicle, said Md. Maruf Hossain, assistant superintendent of police of Faridpur Highway Police.
The injured were taken to Faridpur Medical College Hospital for treatment.
