BCL leader held over murder case in Gopalganj

GOPALGANJ, April 8, 2025 (BSS) - Police arrested a leader of the banned organisation Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) from Bedgram area of the district town last night.

Anwar Hossain Anu, 38, son of Sihab Uddin Ahmed of Konagram in Majhigati union of Sadar upazila, was also the former vice-president of the BCL central committee and general secretary of SM Hall of Dhaka University.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Gopalganj Sadar Police Station Mir Mohammad Sajedur Rahman confirmed the matter to BSS today. 

He said Anu has been arrested as a suspect in the murder case of Shawkat Ali Didar, 40, the sports affairs secretary of the Swechchhasebak Dal central committee, in Ghonapara, Gopalganj.

He was produced before the court today, the OC added.
