DHAKA, April 8, 2025 (BSS) - Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) standing committee member Salahuddin Ahmed has called on leaders of the Muslim world to take measures to stop the Israeli genocide in Gaza and Rafah immediately.

He also condemned the countries that have been financing Israel and sending weapons to kill Palestinian civilians.

"We request the leaders of the Muslim world to stand by the oppressed Muslims across the world. We demand stop of the genocide in Gaza and Rafah immediately," said the BNP leader at a protest rally on Dhaka University (DU) campus this afternoon.

BNP's student wing Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) organized the rally in solidarity with the global protests 'No Work, No School until the Genocide Stops' at the base of Raju Memorial Sculpture at DU.

"We have learnt from newspapers that over 50,000 Palestinians have been killed so far. The actual death toll is much higher," he said, regretting the world powers' silence against the genocide.

The BNP leader alleged the fallen Awami League that it indirectly recognized Israel as a state by removing 'except Israel' from the Bangladeshi passports.

Awami League bought Pegasus wiretapping devices from Israel to spy and oppress people with opposition views, Salahuddin said.

JCD president Md Rakibul Islam Rakib presided over the rally and general secretary Nasir Uddin Nasir moderated it.

BNP's student affairs secretary Rakibul Islam Bakul, JCD's DU unit president Ganesh Chandra Roy and general secretary Nahiduzzaman Shipon, spoke at the demonstration, among others.
