DHAKA, April 10, 2025 (BSS) - BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir today shared memories of his wife's mental state when she was first diagnosed with critical ailment and her time in prison during her surgery.

In a Facebook post, Fakhrul, who is currently in Singapore for treatment purpose of his wife Rahat Ara Begum, wrote when his wife was diagnosed with disease in December 2022, he apparently collapsed mentally.

"She is everything to our family. I decided to have her surgery as soon as possible. Just before her surgery, police of Awami League took me from my house at 3 am at that time.

My daughter rushed to Dhaka. I was in jail during my wife's surgery. No one was in the hospital except my daughter and Dr. Zahid. Our acting chairman and my siblings were enquiring about her," he said.

Alhamdulillah, today doctors in Singapore said everything seems to be fine, so far. "However, we have to come back here again in six months. I am grateful for your prayers and good wishes," he wrote.

On April 6, Fakhrul went to Singapore with his wife for better treatment.
