Manager files case for attacking Bata shop in Sylhet

SYLHET, April 10, 2025 (BSS) - A case has been filed against about unidentified 800 persons in connection with the attack and vandalism in the different shops in Sylhet by a mob during a protest rally condemning Israeli atrocity on Palestine people in Gaza.

Mustafizur Rahman, area manager of Bata Sylhet area, filed the case on Wednesday.
 
This is the second case filed over an attack on the different business enterprises include Bata showroom.

OC of Kotwali Model Police Station Ziaul Haque said, two cases were filed in connection with the incident of the attack and vandalism in Sylhet and so far arrested 21 persons.

On April 8, Abdul Matin Sarkar of Royal Mark Hotel filed a case against 30-40 unidentified persons for vandalizing the hotel.

He also claimed that valuables worth Taka 20-25 lakh were looted during the attack.

The violence broke out during a protest rally in the city on Monday afternoon which was called for protesting Israeli genocide in Gaza.

From around 4pm to 5:30pm, demonstrators attacked and looted 13 shops, restaurants, superstores, and other business establishments in the city, including Bata, KFC, and Domino's Pizza.
