DHAKA, April 10, 2025 (BSS) - Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Administrator Mohammad Ejaz today said operation will be launched soon to reclaim public spaces that have been illegally occupied.

“We will recover state-owned lands and turn them into small public spaces. All DNCC playgrounds and parks will remain open and under constant supervision. No individual, club, or organization will be allowed to use them without permission,” he told a public hearing for Zone-3, at the Madhubag Community Centre in the city.

The administrator also said park management committees will be formed in collaboration with local residents to ensure regular monitoring.

Ejaz  further said, “From next week, a strict drive will be initiated against illegal encroachers on footpaths and roads. The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has already begun installing trappers on main roads to stop autorickshaws from plying.”

The public hearing was part of DNCC’s initiative to listen directly to the concerns of residents across its 10 administrative zones.

Addressing complaints about irregular mosquito control and cleanliness services, he said, “From next week, a full list of mosquito control and sanitation workers, along with their assigned areas and contact information, will be published on the DNCC website. Residents can file complaints if services are not delivered properly. Action will be taken against negligence.”

DNCC Zone-3 Regional Executive Officer Nahid Ul Mostaq, Executive Engineer Nurul Alam, Tax Officer Md. Shahed Johar, Assistant Health Officer Dr. Azizun Nessa, and Assistant Chief Waste Management Officer Md. Arafat Hossain, among others, were present on the occasion.
