Tarique Rahman inquires about family of JCD leader Milon

DHAKA, April 11, 2025 (BSS) - Human Rights Adviser to BNP Acting Chairman Barrister Abu Sayem met with the family of former vice-president of Dhaka Metropolitan North unit of Chhatra Dal, late Zakir Hossain Milon.

At the directive of BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman, he went to the house of late Zakir Hossain Milon in Mazukhan village of Tongi upazila of Gazipur and met his family today.

Member Secretary of 'Amra BNP Paribar' and Bangladesh representative of 'Desmata Foundation' Agriculturist Moksedul Momin Mithun, Jatiya Press Club’s permanent member Jahidul Islam Rony and executive editor of the private television channel News 24 Farhadul Islam Farid, were present, among others.

The BNP delegation assured the family of continuing financial assistance to two daughters of late Milon for their study.

On March 6, 2018, Zakir Hossain Milon was detained by law enforcement agencies while returning from a program at the National Press Club in Dhaka. After that, he was allegedly subjected to inhuman torture at the Shahbagh police station in the capital. 

After the remand, Milon was sent to Dhaka Central Jail in Keraniganj.

He fell ill in prison on March 12, 2018. Later, Milon died on the same day at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
