Two get life-term for raping schoolgirl in Naogaon

NAOGAON, April 29, 2025 (BSS) - A court here today sentenced two people to 
life-term imprisonment in a case lodged over the gang-rape of a schoolgirl in 
Porsha upazila of the district 2021.

The court also fined them Taka one lakh each, in default, to suffer six 
months more in jail, state lawyer Rezaul Karim said.

Judge of Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal-2 Md. Mehedi Hasan 
Talukder pronounced the verdict this noon in presence of the convicts.

The convicts are Shakil, 24, son of Nazim Uddin of Surananda village and 
Abdul Alim, 30, son of Rabu of Aladipur village of the upazila.

According to prosecution, on the night of March 8, 2021, Shakil took the 14-
year old schoolgirl luring to marry her to a mango orchard at Surananda 
village and forcibly raped the teen girl there with his cohort Abdul Alim.

Later, the girl filed a case with the concerned police station and the police 
submitted a charge sheet against the accused after investigating and finding 
the truth of the incident. 

The judge after examining 10 witnesses and evidence found the convicts guilty 
and handed down the punishment.
