Returning officers meet hall provosts over DUCSU, hall union elections

DHAKA, June 24, 2025 (BSS) - Returning officers today held a meeting with the different halls provosts of the Dhaka University (DU) as part of preparations for the Dhaka University Central Students' Union (DUCSU) election and Hall Union election-2025.

The meeting was held at 10:30 am in the Professor Abdul Matin Chowdhury Virtual Classroom of the Administrative Building. 

The meeting was presided over by Chief Returning Officer and Professor of the Department of Botany Dr Mohammad Jasim Uddin, said a press release here.

Returning Officers Professor Dr ASM Mohiuddin, Professor Dr Golam Rabbani, Professor Dr Kazi Mostaq Ghausul Haque, Professor Dr Md Shahidul Islam (Shahidul Zahid), Professor Dr Tariq Manzoor and Associate Professor Sharmin Kabir, among others, were present at the meeting.

The provosts of various halls participated in the meeting and gave their opinions on various issues related to election preparations, administrative cooperation, security arrangements and the voting process. 

The returning officers assured them of considering their recommendations seriously and taking necessary steps.

Meanwhile, as part of the election-related discussions, views exchange meetings of the returning officers with the university's active student organizations will be held on June 26. 

The election code of conduct, participatory process, and maintaining a peaceful environment will be discussed. 

Dhaka University authorities are considering the DUCSU and Hall Union elections with utmost importance as part of democratic practice. 

The university administration is committed to ensuring a free, fair, and participatory election through regular dialogue with stakeholders.
