Ex-MP Benjir's flats, plots attached, bank accounts frozen

DHAKA, June 25, 2025 (BSS) - A Dhaka court today ordered to attach four flats, 116.765 Katha plots and one personal vehicle of former Dhaka-20 lawmaker Benjir Ahmed and to freeze 11 bank accounts of him and his wife Sahina Begum over graft allegations.

Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Zakir Hossain Galib passed the order, allowing separate petitions filed by Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

Of the bank accounts, nine are under the name of Benjir and two in Sahina's name. The court also ordered to freeze share of a company and a deposit account in the name of Sahina.

The ACC in its pleas said Benjir Ahmed amassed illegal wealth of Taka 17.99 crore and made suspicious transactions of Taka 84.42 crore through 11 bank accounts. A case has already been filed against him and the accused may try to sell, hand over or transfer his ill-gotten properties to evade justice. 

In its plea against Sahina, the ACC said she allegedly amassed illegal wealth of Taka 97.47 crore and the commission has already filed a case against her and her husband in this connection. She may try to sell, hand over or transfer their ill-gotten properties to evade justice.
