IU, KUSHTIA, July 16, 2025 (BSS)- Students of Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia today blocked Khulna-Kushtia highway in their immediate protest against attack on July leaders at Gopalgonj.

During the blockade, traffic movement remained suspended on both sides of the road.

Around one hundred students gathered at the Zia Moor around 5:30pm and marched to the main entrance of the campus. Later, they blocked the highway for almost half an hour.

During the protest, students chanted slogans including, ‘Why is my brother injured, Interim, give answer’, ‘Abu Sayed-Mugdha, fight is not over yet’, ‘Down with Mujibism, long live the revolution’.

Later, students against discrimination leaders of the IU unit gave speeches. They demanded immediate action from the interim government against today's Awami League attackers on NCP leaders.

They said, Since August 5, the Islamic University administration has been showing a pro-Awami League bias similar to that of Gopalganj.

The speakers said, Those who raised slogans against students on July 4, have not yet faced any action from the administration. Immediate action must be taken against the opponents of the July movement. Even at Islamic University, just like in Gopalganj, the symbols of fascism have not yet been destroyed.

They urge the administration to remove the symbols of fascists within next 3/4 working days.
