DHAKA, July 17, 2025 (BSS) - BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed today alleged that a deep conspiracy was going on internally centering the upcoming elections.

“We have said that we want reforms and hold elections at a reasonable time, announce specific time for election, do not prolong it too much,” he said while addressing a protest rally in front of BNP central office in the city’s Nayapaltan area on Wednesday afternoon.

Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Krishak Dal organized the rally to protest against ugly comments and slogans against BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman. Krishak Dal President Hasan Jafir Tuhin chaired the rally while General Secretary Shahidul Islam Babul also spoke.

Mentioning the much-talked about meeting between Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus and BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman in London, he said after the meeting, the people of the country have got some relief, but I think some people do not want it.

“After that, conflict and bloody situation started all over the country! Why?” he questioned.

The BNP spokesperson said BNP immediately condemned the murder in Mitford in the capital and those involved in it have been expelled from the party for life.

After the incident, condemnation was expressed along with statements by the chairman and secretary general (of BNP), he said adding exemplary punishment would be given to those involved in the incident.

He said recently a BNP activist was shot and his tendon was cut off by Jamaat-e-Islami activists. A BNP worker Abdur Rahim was killed in Cox's Bazar. “Why the issue is not discussed?” he asked.

Stating that the government is always blamed for any killing or bloodshed, Rizvi said the responsibility for maintaining law and order lies on the government, but they did not say anything on it, they did not say anything to the administration.

“They are marching against Tarique Rahman, who has been in London for the last 17-18 years. He himself is a victim of Sheikh Hasina's oppression and torture,” he added.

Describing Tarique Rahman as a symbol of courage and confidence, Rizvi said he (Tarique) has ensured the victory of democracy with his six-seven years of leadership.
