3 held with weapon, motorbike in Shyamoli mugging

DHAKA, July 17, 2025 (BSS) - Police in separate raids in Dhaka and Bhola districts have arrested three professional robbers in a recent sensational incident of mugging a young man of his belongings by threatening him with a sharp weapon in the capital's Shyamoli area.
 
The arrested have been identified as Al Amin (28), Aslam Sikder (29) and Kabir (22).
 
Detective Branch (DB)-Tejgaon Division of the Dhaka Metropolitan (DMP) arrested the trio in separate raids at Keraniganj in Dhaka and Char Fashion in Bhola district and Mohammadpur area in Dhaka in the last few days after identifying them with the help of technology and analysis of CCTV footage from the scene, said a police press release.
 
A chapatti (sharp weapon) and a motorcycle used in the mugging were seized during the operations. 

Earlier on July 11, 2025, Shimeon Tripura (30) was attacked by three unidentified miscreants near Marigold International School at Shyamoli while he was going to his workplace in Dhamrai.
 
 The miscreants, who came on a motorcycle, threatened him with a chapati and a machete and snatched a backpack from him, which contained Taka 1,000 in cash, his national identity card, bank card and office ID card.
 
They also snatched a mobile phone, shoes and a T-shirt from him. CCTV footage of the armed robbery incident went viral on Facebook.
 
A case was registered with Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station in this connection on July 12, 2025.
