Jamaat’s national rally on Saturday

DHAKA, July 17, 2025 (BSS) – Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islam will hold a national rally at the historic Suhrawardy Udyan in the capital Dhaka on Saturday next.

Jamaat Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman will preside over the national rally, while Islamic and patriotic national leaders have been invited to attend the rally. They will also deliver important speeches at the rally, said a press release today.

Ahead of the rally, the party held a press conference at the Abdus Salam Hall of the Jatiya Press Club this afternoon with Jamaat Secretary General and former MP Professor Mia Golam Parwar in the chair.

Party’s Assistant Secretary General Maulana ATM Masum, Maulana Rafiqul Islam Khan, former MP Dr. Hamidur Rahman Azad, Maulana Abdul Halim, Md. Moazzam Hossain Helal and Md. Ehsanul Mahbub Zubair, Central Executive Council Member and Secretary of the Central Publicity and Media Department Matiur Rahman Akand, Dhaka Metropolitan South Ameer Nurul Islam Bulbul and North Ameer Md. Selim Uddin, Dhaka Metropolitan South Secretary Dr. Shafiqul Islam Masud, Assistant Secretary of the North Yasin Arafat, Assistant Secretary of the South Delwar Hossain, Publicity Secretary of the North Ataur Rahman Sarkar, former Central President of Islami Chhatra Shibir Manjurul Islam and Assistant Publicity Secretary of the South Abdus Sattar Suman, among others, were present.

Prof Mia Golam Parwar said, “In the past 54 years since independence, we have been subjected to various forms of torture, lost our constitutional and political rights. After the political change through the July 2024 coup, we are grateful to Allah Almighty for the freedom of speech, political freedom, constitutional rights we are able to enjoy and the opportunity to organize a national rally, Al-Hamdulillah. We express our gratitude to the countrymen, media and administration for their cooperation in organizing the rally.”

He further said this historic national rally is going to be held with the aim of realizing the 7-point demands. The demands are: ensuring a level playing field for free, fair, impartial and peaceful conduct, trial of all genocides, necessary fundamental reforms, implementation of the July Charter and Declaration, rehabilitation of the families of those martyred and injured in the July mass uprising, holding national elections through the PR system and making arrangements for more than one crore expatriates to vote, he said.

He said that ensuring a level playing field is essential for holding free and fair elections.
