People not afraid, but worried about Gopalganj incident: Jamaat leader Taher

DHAKA, July 17, 2025 (BSS) - Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Nayeeb-e-Ameer and former MP Dr. Syed Abdullah Mohammad Taher today said the people of Bangladesh are not afraid, but worried about the Gopalganj incident.

He said this while speaking as the chief guest at a rally organized by Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Dhaka Metropolitan South and North this afternoon at the North Gate of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque.

Later, a huge procession was brought out from there and it marched through Jatiya Press Club, Matsya Bhaban and Shahbagh Chatta.

Taher said the terrorists of banned terrorist organizations Chhatra League, Jubo League and Awami League involved in the attack on NCP rally should be arrested immediately and strict punishment should be ensured.

Speaking as a special guest, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General and former MP Professor Mia Golam Parwar said when the people are preparing for an election in unity and a national rally is going to be held at Suhrawardy Udyan on July 19, the attack on NCP's march in Gopalganj is an ominous sign at this very moment.

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Central Executive Council member and Dhaka Metropolitan South Ameer Md. Nurul Islam Bulbul chaired the rally while Assistant Secretary Maulana ATM Masum, Assistant Secretary General Maulana Rafiqul Islam Khan, Assistant Secretary and former MP Dr. HM Hamidur Rahman Azad, Central Working Committee Member and Dhaka Metropolitan South Secretary Dr. Shafiqul Islam Masud also spoke.
